Abstract. Edwin T, Primasari B, Purnama RA. 2023. Characterization of microplastic in trawl fish caught Padang City (Indonesia) coastal area. Biodiversitas 24: 516-522. Marine organisms can ingest microplastics that are distributed the oceans. It harm marine because carcinogenic materials easily attach to microplastics. Trawl is a commercial with high demand from people City, West Sumatera, Indonesia. This study aimed analyze abundance gastrointestinal tract fish. Also, characteristics on Pasir Jambak Coast and Purus City. The species studied were Sulphur goatfish (Upeneus sulphureus), Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta), White sardinella (Sardinella albella). Microplastics identified using microscopy FTIR spectroscopy. Microplastic goatfish, mackerel, was 3.89±1.36 per fish, 4.22±1.28 particles 2.50±0.46 respectively. size most commonly found ranged 1-5 mm categorized as Large (LMP) type. Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis showed origin type polymer Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). Statistically, it shows difference location time sampling does not provide significant concentration seawater. results this indicated waters all samples coast studied. be used manage plastic waste city prevent worse impact due pollution future.

15 صفحه اولInvestigation of microplastic contamination in the gastrointestinal tract of some species of caught fish from Oman Sea
Background and Objective: Marine pollution is growing due to human activities. Continuous increase in plastic production and poor management of plastic waste resulted in a significant increase of this contaminant in aquatic environments. This in turn led to the widespread presence of Microplastics (MPs) with a size of less than 5mm. Materials and Methods: In this study, frequency, distribution...
متن کاملHermaphroditism in the white spot grouper Epinephelus coeruleopunctatus (Pisces: Serranidae) harvested from Padang City waters, Indonesia
The objective of the present study was to determine the length (mm) for sex transformation of hermaphroditism in white spot grouper Epinephelus coeruleopunctatus as a basis for developing breeding technology. Fish sampling was carried out between April and October 2013 in Padang City waters, Indonesia. A total of 56 white spot groupers were recorded during the study; of these 22 were male, 28 f...

We investigated microplastics in the digestive tracts of 64 Japanese anchovy (Engraulis japonicus) sampled in Tokyo Bay. Plastic was detected in 49 out of 64 fish (77%), with 2.3 pieces on average and up to 15 pieces per individual. All of the plastics were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Most were polyethylene (52.0%) or polypropylene (43.3%). Most of the plastics were f...
متن کاملLength-weight relationships and condition factors of the whitespotted grouper Epinephelus coeruleopunctatus Bloch, 1790 in the coastal waters of Padang City, Indonesia
The whitespotted grouper Epinephelus coeruleopunctatus is one of the commercial marine fish species occurred in the coastal waters of Padang city, Indonesia. The population of the whitespotted grouper has been declining over last decade. Unfortunately, there was a lack of information on the biology of this species was available. Hence, the objectives of the present research were to examine the ...
